Yesterday was a very long day. Not the longest day literally by calendar but the longest day and busiest for me so far this year. I had to set my alarm for the first time all year to get up and prepare to head out to St George Island to start setting up for the annual mullet toss event at the Blue Parrot Oceanfront Cafe. This would be my first time emceeing an event like this. Upon arrival co-owners George in Steve we're awesome in helping me out and giving me the best instructions for a smooth day. After setting up I noticed my bartender friend Levi was there and was prepping sliced fruit and about to open up the Tiki Bar. I asked him for a frozen drink and he made me one of those frozen sandblasters. Wow that was needed and reallt set the tone for my day. So... registration started at 10 a.m. and the event started at 11 a.m. The crowd started forming quickly to participate or spectate. What a fun event. Kids and adults grabbing full size mullet and throwing them past markers for distance. Great prizes and a great event for a great cause using proceeds for charity. The event ended about 2:45 p.m. My friend Judy Sumner and some of her family showed up and after the event I sat with them at a table while they ate their lunch at the Blue Parrot. We had a little bit of rain on and off but nothing to keep the event from happening. Knowing that I had to perform in Apalachicola I proceeded on over
to set up at Tamara's Tapas Bar. Parking was unavailable for a few minutes until I found a spot a great distance away and carried my stuff up and through the streets to the venue. My friend Judy and her family also join me for the whole event which was great having them there. Judy made sure I stay hydrated. I performed a three-hour show without any breaks. Upon finishing the show I placed an order to go and soon on the way back home to the river. Completely wiped out when I got home after taking care of the dogs and cat, I took a shower and went straight to bed. Reflecting on what a complete and profiting day it was. I'm writing this blog drinking coffee this Sunday morning. It is raining outside but I am pretty sure that my show will go on at the Blue Parrot again today at 1 p.m. ...all for now!
